Kavalan: Why Should Businesses Embrace LCAs?
As the world confronts the growing climate crisis, nations continue to set ambitious targets to tackle the issue. Ahead of Cop26 UN climate talks this November, the US pledges to halve emissions by 2030, while other rich nations have also announced new goals in recent weeks. Precise and understandable objectives are key to forging a clearly defined path, supported by knowing the figures and closely scrutinising your sustainable progress. Shouldn’t this be how businesses are setting sustainability goals too? For businesses that care about their impact on the planet, the first step is choosing to undergo (and benefit from) a life cycle analysis (LCA).

UV LED Prevents Mercury Bulb Waste and Saves Energy
With traditional UV curing processes, the tremendous heat associated with mercury UV lamps require a significant amount of electricity to operate, in addition to unseen maintenance expenses. This article will discuss how Phoseon UV LED technologies provide incomparable waste reduction, and energy savings of between 75 and 85 percent compared to mercury drying systems. With Phoseon lamps, there is no need for fume extraction units to remove the gases generated by mercury-vapor UV lamps. UV LED is not only good for the environment, but also has a very positive effect on the finances, sustainability, health, and safety of company operations.

Bonding with Agfa's UV-Jettable Primers
While UV-curable inks boast excellent adhesion properties, a primer still comes in useful when printing on particular substrates. Some substrates are notoriously difficult to make ink adhere too. Take for example metal, glass, ceramics or polypropylene, which can be used for numerous applications, including decorative printing, direct-to-shape printing, or marking & coding. To ensure superior bonding of UV-curable inkjet inks to challenging media, dedicated digital primers can save the day.
