Innovation Insights: Sakiko Watkins on her placement at Archipelago Technology in Cambridge

Fraser Chesterman of Future Print spoke with Sakiko Watkins during her two-week postgraduate placement at Archipelago Technology in Cambridge. Watkins, originally from Virginia, chose Cambridge to gain international experience and collaborate with engineers from around the world.

At Archipelago, Watkins focused on exploring the regulatory requirements involved in setting up a pilot plant for the company's coating technologies. She really enjoyed learning about learning about the practical challenges of scaling up from research to production.

Watkins praised her colleagues at Archipelago for their passion, knowledge, and supportive attitude. She stressed the importance of engineers fully understanding projects before tackling problems.

Returning to the U.S., Watkins brings with her new perspectives on international collaboration, regulatory frameworks, and the thorough preparation essential to successful engineering initiatives. A second interview will be released soon - stay tuned.
